Alcohol prevention program in our Knanaya community.
Objective;
1. To generate the alcohol free youth.
2. To create some discipline among the youth.
3. To. Produce some sports star form our community.
4. To create some cordial relationship among the church members and allow themselves to overcome the cheap church politics.
Nobody is arguing that, one of the biggest challenges in our Knanaya Jacobite or catholic community is alcoholism. In order to wipe out the alcoholism from our community we need to implement lot of programs.
In my experience as a teenager being in the knanaya community I know for a fact that, there was no program available in our community. Almost all the churches have been experiencing family fight. (Family Vs Family.) As a Knanayakkaran in his 15th years to 25th years, most of the chaps have free time from 5pm to 8pm.They have chances to experiment with alcohol in their free time.(Since alcoholism is a progressive disease and no one gets the bad effects right away. 20% of those people who experience alcohol become the alcoholic addict lately) If we are able to substitute some activity on that time, people might use their time constructively.
My idea to prevent alcoholism is concentrate on sports activities among the knanaya people. Almost all the churches have space for volleyball and shuttle cock, if we have space, we need to start football(soccer) too.
How are we going to implement?
Based on some circular from our leadership, all the churches could organize a sports club and use the church space for some sports activity. In order to motivate all kinds of sports activity we need sponsors.
We could either start ever rolling trophy that can sponsor rs/100000 each year, or we can start tournament "one time deal"
The prize money is one lakh.
The winner get Rs.40000, runners up get Rs.25000.third prize Rs.15000 and fourth prize gets Rs.10000.
Rs.10000 for organizing the tournament. (Referee, ball net)
The competition is between churches. If chapel wants to join with their thalappaly its okay.
40% of the prize money goes to the winner church and that money can be used for the sports activity.(eg 40000*40%=16000.) The 10% of the rest of the prize money goes to the priest of the winner church. 24000*10%=2400). Rest of the money goes to the players equally.
We are willing to conduct any number of Tournaments if we get sponsors.
The minimum prize money should be 100000/.The one who sponsors can distribute trophy and cash award in our Yuvagana samagam and also he can select name of the tournament in his wish.
Eg: Manakkal pappan memorial ever rolling volleyball tournament in the kanaya community.
Xyz memorial shuttle tournament in the knanaya community.
Hero Honda ever rolling foot ball tournament ---prize money 400000 ,
As every one knows that we have three auxiliary Bishops and any one can take initiative to eradicate alcoholism or substitute other activities for the betterment of our knanaya community.
This is one of the examples of what they could do for our community rather than looking for as many as churches under them!!!!!!!!!
What they could do if they get couple of churches under their direct observation?
