Visit of The Patriarch at Chingavanam Dayara Pally

His Holiness was warmly welcomed by the Knanaya Archdiocese on 23rd October, 2008 at Dayara church. The Arch bishop Mor Severios Kuriakose received him by handing him over a lit candle and H.H offered Holy Qurbono at the makeshift dias erected beside the church. After the Holy Qurbono Mor Severious, the arch bishop, Samudayam Trustee, Secreatary and President spoke on behalf of the samudayam.

During his speech H H remembered that the great community had produced many leaders who led the samudayam and during the crisis periods of Jacobite Samudayam in Malankara their unmatched contributions should be remembered for ever .

He specifically remembered H.E late lamented Mor Clemis Abraham as a great leader, bishop and a towering personality the Malankara Sabha has ever produced.

H H exhorted all the members of the community, as the spiritual head and representative of the god on earth – “To obey the orders of our metropolitans and that way to achieve all the blessings of the heaven”.

H H reminded the Arch Bishop and three auxiliary bishops to work hard UNITEDLY for the betterment of the community, without fear and favor.

He then proceeded to address the Malankara Suriyani Knanaya Samudayam
Association, in the association hall, Mor Ephrem Seminary.

H.H released a book on PRIESTHOOD in Oriental Orthodox church, written by the vicar of St.Johns Dayara Church, Fr.Rajan Kulamadayil by giving the first copy to H B Baselious Thirumeni.







 

Knanaya Community is a very distinct ethnic and religious group whose ancestry traces back to Abraham. Knanaya Christians, a hybrid people of Indian and Jewish descent, carved a unique niche for themselves in India. They developed a style of life that was borrowed from both their jewish and Indian progenitors but jelled into something that was essentially their own. Knananites continue to be an endogamous community.
